Privacy
At Doculus Lumus GmbH, we are fully aware that the industry in which our products are used demands the highest standards of data protection. Accordingly, the Doculus Lumus Webapp has been designed to ensure that all image processing and computations are performed exclusively on the user’s device.
Download the full technical privacy statement here. An overview is provided below.
1. Local Processing of Images and Videos
-
All operations on camera images or video streams occur entirely locally on the end-user device.
-
The server is used solely to provide instructions for processing the video feed; it does not receive, store, or transmit any image or video data in any form.
-
Comparison images or any derived data are never uploaded to the server. The Webapp accesses only files stored locally on the user’s device. No data leaves the device under any circumstances.
2. Offline Functionality
-
The Webapp can operate completely without an Internet connection.
-
Users may download the Webapp via a button and then disconnect from the Internet. The application will continue to function normally.
-
The Webapp is delivered as an HTML file, which can be opened directly from the Desktop, Downloads folder, or any other location using a standard web browser. No executable files are required, and no installation is necessary.
3. Server Hosting
-
While no user data is transmitted or stored on the server – making its location largely irrelevant for privacy – the server is securely hosted in Germany.
- No usage information, analytics, telemetry, or any other metadata is collected or transmitted to the server. All interactions with the Webapp occur entirely on the user’s device, ensuring complete privacy and control over generated content.
4. Data Protection Assurance
-
Because all processing occurs locally and no data leaves the user’s device, the Webapp provides maximum privacy and security for sensitive content.
-
Users remain fully in control of all images, videos, and metadata at all times.
-
The Webapp complies with the principle of data minimization: no personal or sensitive information is transmitted, logged, or stored externally.
5. Technical Notes
-
The performance of the Webapp depends on the user’s device, as all computation occurs locally.
-
Recommended technical specifications for optimal performance are provided with each Snap&Cam device.
-
Internet access is only required for initial download or updates; normal operation does not require any network connection.
